Description

No. 61 East Street is a building dating from between 1731 and 1750, originally constructed as a single house. It features a three-storey façade with four windows, built in typical brickwork. The building has an enriched eaves cornice with flat brackets supporting the soffit and an egg-and-dart bed-mould. The sash windows are adorned with triple keystones and brick aprons, although the glazing bars have been removed. There are two 19th-century shop fronts that have been modernized. A passageway is located at the left-hand end of the building.

No. 61, along with Nos. 61 to 73 (odd), is part of a group that includes the National Westminster Bank, Lloyds Bank, Nos. 6 and 10 to 26 (even), and the Red Lion Public House and its outbuildings.
