Description
71 and 71A East Street is a building dating from around 1751 to 1750. It is a four-storey structure with typical brickwork and features three windows. There is a moulded brick string course, and to the right, there is a notable three-storey wooden bay from the later 18th century, which has sash windows. The building includes an open shop front with a well-crafted moulded hood that projects in the center, along with a sign board above. A modern plate glass shop window is present, and there is a house door at the left end. Inside, there are remains of an 18th-century staircase. This building is part of a group that includes the National Westminster Bank, Lloyds Bank, numbers 6 and 10 to 26 (even), and the Red Lion Public House and Outbuildings.
