Description
The Water Mill at The Mill, with an attached bridge, is a mid-19th century flour mill powered by water. The north elevation features rubble-stone walls and a slate roof, standing three storeys high. It has three windows, which are three-light cast-iron casements with glazing bars and centre opening lights, along with brick dressings and segmental window heads. The centre of the first floor includes a two-leaf plank door that leads to a loading bay. To the right, there is an attached two-storey store with three windows. The ground floor has two segmental-headed openings and a 20th-century door with glass lights, while above are two-light casements. On the south elevation, a bridge spans the mill-leat, featuring a segmental brick arch with rubble-stone walls above and brick parapet copings. The mill contains an overshot iron wheel, made in Beaminster in 1866, with an iron sluice-gate control located immediately before the wheel.
