Description

The Cottage is a mid-19th century house. It is constructed of rubble-stone walls with stone quoins. The roof is slate, hipped and of a low pitch, concealing brick stacks on the rear wall. The house has two storeys and three windows to the front elevation, which contain sash windows with thin glazing-bars, stone cills, and stone voussoirs. A flush-panelled front door is centrally positioned on the south elevation, featuring three top lights and a rectangular light above. A cast-iron openwork porch is attached, displaying a flowing vine-leaf pattern and a flared pent copper roof. A two-storey rear wing extends to the north, with two windows containing three-light cast-iron casements with glazing-bars, wooden cills and lintels. A centrally located door is panelled with two top lights, and is sheltered by a cast-iron openwork porch featuring an anthemion motif. A segmental roof covers the porch.
