Description

The Litton Cheney School is a schoolmaster’s house built in the mid-18th century by T. Hollis. The house is constructed of rubble stone with ashlar stone quoins. The roof is slate, with stone gable copings. Brick stacks are located at each gable. The building is two storeys high with dormers. It has three windows with four-light stone mullions, featuring moulded stone architraves; mullions are recessed on either side of the central windows. Twentyeth-century metal casements with glazing bars are set within the mullioned openings. A central front door is flush-panelled with four glazed lights and is dated to the 19th century. A stone rubble porch with a pitched slate roof covers the entrance. A 19th-century school range attached at a right angle is not part of this listing.
