Description
These three cottages are located next to The Manor House on the east side and are part of a complex known locally as Gillingham Yard. They are constructed from colourwashed rubble, with their fronts altered in the 19th century. The cottages have a patent pantile roof with a stone slate verge at the gable end. The westernmost cottage is currently occupied by the WRVS and features one sash window above and another sash window to the right below. There is a doorway with an architrave frame, a six-panelled door, and a shallow fanlight. An entry to the right leads to gardens and three other cottages, although this door is now padlocked. To the right again, there is one gabled dormer and two later paired sashes with intact glazing bars, both on the first floor and below. A ledged door is located at the right-hand end of the row. These cottages, along with No 31 Newland, the east range of Sherborne House, the front and rear garden walls of Sherborne House, No 41, The Manor House, and the two adjoining cottages (Nos 57 to 93, odd) as well as the north-east boundary wall to Newland Close, form a group.
