Description
Hotel Buena Vista is an early 19th-century building of three storeys, situated on Pound Street. The east-facing front has six window bays. It has a slate roof with overhanging eaves, and a stuccoed facade. The second floor features sash windows with glazing bars. The first floor has 19th-century casement windows situated behind a verandah with a coved canopy supported by fluted metal columns; a wrought iron balcony is present on the first floor.
The ground floor juts forward and features a moulded entablature. From the left, there is a French casement, an entrance marked by pilasters with a recessed door, a large late 19th-century French casement spanning two window bays, and two French casements at the right-hand end. A two-storey, two-bay addition is located on the right-hand side. A modern, south-facing addition exists on the left.
Hotel Buena Vista is part of a group which also includes The Lawn, the north boundary walls, Tivoli Cottage (Nos 14 and 15), and Belmont.
