Description

Broadlands is an early 19th-century building located on Staplers Road. It is two storeys high and has a rendered painted exterior with a low-pitched hipped slate roof and projecting eaves. The south entrance front features four windows, with the three easternmost slightly set back. The windows are recessed sash types with glazing bars and block sills, and they have Venetian shutters with French blind cases. On the ground floor, there is a contemporary French window to the west and an entrance to the east, which consists of a recessed panelled door below five tall lights, framed with a moulded surround and a bevelled stepped architrave. Both the entrance and the French window are sheltered by wide gabled porches that include bargeboards and wire and wood trellis work.

The west front has three tall recessed casement windows, each with two lights and glazing bars, while the centre window is shuttered. The ground floor windows are also recessed sash types with block sills, and there is an original French window in the centre. This ground floor area is enclosed by a later conservatory. To the north, there is a service wing that is two storeys tall and made of painted brick, featuring a gable end slate roof. This wing has two windows with casements of two lights in moulded wood frames, decorated with camber-headed arches and glazing bars arranged in diamond and lozenge patterns, with segmental-headed arches above.
