Description
Fisherman's hut from the 19th century, constructed of squared coursed block or rubble with felt roofs. The building consists of two units that form one rectangular structure parallel to the coast. At the southwest end, near the Lighthouse, there is a small single-cell, one-storey building with a prominent stone block front that features a wide plank door set in a simple opening. The left gable displays a series of large crow-step kneelers and a stone stack with capping over rubble walling. A blocked doorway is located at the back, in the center. To the right is a longer two-room space that shares a common ridge line but has a lower pitch than the adjoining unit. This section includes a full-height opening to the left, followed by a normal plank door and a square opening with a rendered lintel. The return gable is plain rubble, but it features some very large quoin stones set low. The back of the building has been slightly raised. This hut is a rare survival.
