Description

The boundary wall flanking Park Walk on the north side is part of the curtilage of several properties, including Nos 17 and 19 High Street, Nos 6 and 8 Church Lane, Priory House on Church Lane, and the remains of Shaftesbury Abbey. This wall, which is approximately 8 feet high, dates from the 18th century and may incorporate masonry from the medieval Abbey of Shaftesbury. It is constructed of squared rubble masonry with stone coping. The wall features an eastern corner and a returning section on the northeast that extends towards King Alfred's Kitchen, as well as around the grounds of The Abbey House.
