Description

The boundary wall to Abbey Fields, located south of Abbey House, is an estate boundary wall that likely dates back to the 16th century, with some parts rebuilt later and heightened in the 19th century. It is constructed from dressed stone or rubble laid in courses, raised by eight brick courses topped with a brick weathered coping, making it approximately 2.5 meters high overall. This wall was originally built as a park wall for Abbey House and was later heightened and repaired for the Duke of Bedford's Thorney Estate. It is listed for its group value context.
