Description
Cheriton House is a stone house built in 1728. It has a steeply pitched roof covered in new tiles, with coped gable ends and oversailing eaves. The building is two storeys high with an attic, and has three bays. The first floor features tripartite sash windows with glazing bars, with a central single-light sash window. The ground floor has two ashlar splayed bay windows and a central fielded panel door with a rectangular fanlight and a dentilled hood supported by shaped brackets. There are three hipped dormers in the roof.
The house is arranged with a double pile plan, meaning rooms are present on both sides of a central passage, and incorporates twin end gables, each featuring an ashlar stack with a cornice. The site was previously occupied by the chapter house of Thorney Abbey.
