Description

The former Infant School and School House, located on Abbey Walk, dates from the early to mid 19th century and may incorporate some medieval remains. The building served as a school and includes an adjoining schoolmaster's house. The school features three bays, is one storey high, and has an additional bay that extends through one storey and an attic at the southeast end. The School House is two storeys tall. The structure is made of greenish stone and has slate roofs, with flanking octagonal stacks topped on the schoolmaster's house.

The school has a prominent central gabled stone porch with a four-centre arched entrance. On either side of the porch, there are two-tiered mullioned windows with two lights, although these windows have been modernized. To the right, there is an additional bay with an attic storey that includes a three-light window with stone mullions. A Perpendicular-style window is located at the northwest end, topped with a bell-cote. The School House features two-light windows, and in the left-hand bay, there is a gabled porch with a 14th-century style window and an entrance on the south side.
