Description

Town's End and Monmouth House are a former farmhouse, later divided into two cottages, located in Melbury Osmond. The core of the building dates to the late 17th century, with 19th-century extensions at the rear. The structure is built with coursed rubble-stone walls and has a thatched roof with gable ends. Early 20th-century brick stacks are situated at the gable ends. The building has one and a half storeys and originally featured three windows with ovolo-moulded wooden mullions, painted, to the first floor, comprising three-light and two-light arrangements. These windows have 19th-century leaded iron casements. A front door, set within a segmental stone arch, is located at the centre of Monmouth House, and is a 20th-century plank-and-muntin design. A plank door, also on the rear wall, provides access to Town's End.
