Medlycott Building At Sherborne School

The Medlycott Building at Sherborne School, constructed in 1955, is a two-storey, three-bay structure featuring a stone slate roof and stone coping on the gables. The front facade, which faces Abbey Road, is made of stone and includes a stringcourse. It has six-light stone mullioned windows in both the ground and first floors at the end bays, while the center features a three-light window above a gabled porch. The porch has a four-centred doorway with carved spandrels and an inscription in the lintel that reads 'Medlycott Building', along with a sunk date panel above. On the gable end facing the quadrangle, a six-light splayed bay rises through both floors. The front facing the Tower has similar details, but the doorway here also has a four-centred head and carved spandrels. The Medlycott Building is part of a group of buildings at Sherborne School that surround the greens immediately north of the Abbey Church of St Mary.
