Description
Trenestrall Farm buildings, located approximately 35 metres north of Trenestrall Farmhouse, are a range of planned farm buildings dating from the early to mid 19th century. Constructed from slatestone and sandstone, with some granite quoins, the buildings feature hipped roofs made of scantle slate and Delabole slate. The layout consists of a long rectangular range with a wing at the east of the north end, a large horse engine house wing midway on the east side, and an additional wing to the south of this.
The complex includes both single-storey and two-storey structures. At the south end, there is an implement shed with an open east side supported by round stone piers, leading to a two-storey section with a wing. There is also a taller two-storey barn with a steep hipped roof, which may date back to before 1800, making it the oldest part of the complex. In front of this barn is a two-storey horse engine house with a low-pitched roof. Some glazing remains in one of the pair of circular first-floor windows on the east side.
Additionally, there is a single-storey link building, possibly a shippon, connecting to a further two-storey range to the north, which has its rear wall built into a bank. A wing at the north end, which has only door openings, may have been used for loose boxes. This farm was part of the Polsue Manor Estate.
