GV II

Nonconformist chapel. 1840 datestone. Faced coursed rubble with granite-coped plinth and steps; stucco imposts and round arches to both floors, mid-floor string, moulded architrave string above 1st-floor windows, moulded central pediment with flanking parapets behind pair of small pediments; dry slate roofs with moulded eaves. Rectangular aisleless plan with gallery (now floored) on 3 sides and organ loft at rear classical style. 2 storey elevations, symmetrical 1:3:1-bay front. 3 late C19 three-light transomed windows with single-spoked fanlight heads and coloured glass over 3 doorways with plain fanlights and pairs of 3-panel doors with top panels glazed; flanking projecting bays each with pair of 2-pane horned sashes over doorway with blind fanlight with date and pair of 3 panel doors. Side elevations have round-arched openings with C20 windows. INTERIOR: altered late C20 but retains panelled doors and reveals and moulded cornice to entrance hall and moulded plaster cornice and elaborate central rose to auditorium. Late C19 pitch-pine gallery pews with panelled backs and rectangular chamfered ends; old organ.
