Description

The Barley Sheaf Public House, likely dating from the early 19th century, is a stucco-fronted building with a bitumen-grouted rag slate roof and brick end stacks. It has a double-depth plan and presents a four-window range to the first floor, arranged over three storeys. Most windows are mid-to-late 19th century, with four panes and hornless sashes, although some windows on the second floor to the right and on the ground floor are later replacements that imitate the original design. A pilastered doorway, topped with a moulded entablature, features a four-panel door centrally placed on the left-hand side. There is a blocked window above the doorway on the second floor, and a wide carriage doorway is located on the right. The interior has not been inspected. To the far left, a three-step mounting block is constructed from rubble and granite.
