Description
The Primitive Methodist Chapel is a Nonconformist chapel built in 1873. It is constructed from granite rubble with granite dressings, and the sides and rear are painted. The roof is made of slurried scantle slate and features gable ends. The chapel has a rectangular aisle-less layout with a tiered ground floor gallery on the left and a rostrum on the right.
The exterior is symmetrical, with two windows on the north-east front. The openings have round-headed keyed arches and retain their original doors and windows. There are a pair of 4-panel doors with arched top panels and a spoked fanlight above, along with a datestone. The window openings are higher and fitted with horned sashes that have marginal panes and traceried heads, similar sashes can be found at the rear.
Inside, the chapel features original plasterwork and fittings, including a ceiling rose with acanthus detail, panelled pews with ramped ends, and a rostrum that has a round-headed wall niche, presumably intended for a font.
