Description
Boskennal Cottage is a small farmhouse dating from the 17th or 18th century. It is constructed from granite rubble with granite dressings and features a wheat-reed thatched roof. A granite rubble chimney is located over the left-hand gable end, and the roof slopes lower over a rear outshut. The building has a two-room plan, with a wide hall and kitchen on the left and a parlour on the lower ground to the right, separated by a lobby entrance or cross passage. There is a later outshut at the rear that was rebuilt or partly rebuilt in the 20th century. In the garden, there is a large chamfered lintel from the 17th century. The cottage is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window east front, which was likely rebuilt in the 18th century. The doorway is positioned to the right of the middle, with the windows also located towards the right. The door is a 20th-century ledged type, and there is a 20th-century porch that likely features a reused door from the late 19th century with marginal panes. The windows are 20th-century 12-pane horned sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
