Description

The building is a schoolroom that is attached to the Wesley Methodist Church, dating from 1890. It is constructed from slatestone rubble with granite and stucco details, topped with a rag slate roof that features a pediment at the front. The design is in the Italianate style and has a deep plan. The building is two storeys high and has a symmetrical front with a layout of 1:3:1 bays. The central bays are pedimented and feature a moulded cornice, with Venetian windows on the first floor above three flat-headed windows on the ground floor. There are pilasters on either side of the central bays and similar pilasters at the ends, with plain granite pilasters on the ground floor and channelled rustication above. The end bays contain six-panel doors with overlights that are set back to create porches, and there are small windows on the first floor. All windows are original horned sashes. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
