Description

This is a headstone and a pair of adjoining tombchests, located 6 metres south of the south aisle of the Church of St Torney. They are probably from the 18th century. The headstone commemorates William Peter, who died in 1795. It is a square-headed slate headstone with inscriptions in both upper and lower case lettering, featuring serifs. The pair of tombchests are made of stone rubble and have thick granite rectangular lids. The lids are carved with inscriptions in relief, although these were difficult to read at the time of inspection.
