Description
This is a Methodist church and attached schoolroom built in 1810, as indicated by the datestone. The building is constructed of stone rubble with a moulded plinth and granite dressings, topped with a slate roof that has hipped ends. The chapel has a rectangular plan with the entrance located at the liturgical west end facing the road. To the right, which is the liturgical south side, is likely the original stables with a probable schoolroom above.
The exterior features a single-storey chapel on the left with a symmetrical front that has two windows. There is a central ashlar stone porch with a hipped end and a round-headed dressed stone arch above the window at the front. Plank doors are located on the left and right sides of the porch. The chapel has two dressed stone round-headed window openings, with the datestone reading 'Methodist Chapel 1810' placed centrally. The left side elevation, which is slate-hung, has three similar round-headed windows.
To the right, there is a two-storey range that has a wide opening on the ground floor with a 20th-century door and window inserted. Above this is a round-headed window with a dressed stone arch and key block. An entrance on the left side provides access to the first floor. The interior is not accessible, but an inspection is recommended to record the fixtures and fittings.
