Description

NORTH HILL SX 27 NE 4/73 Battens Millhouse GV II Millhouse and attached outbuilding and pigshouses. 1702 for I.T. (datestone). Stone rubble with granite quoins; slate hung with rag slates on front above base. Slate roof with hipped ends. Rendered end stack on right and stone rubble end stack on left. Plan: Two room and cross or through passage plan, heated by end stacks with probably C20 outshut extension to rear right. Exterior: Two storeys. Almost symmetrical 3-window front, slate hung above base. Central C19 panelled door. Porch to front with two granite piers with square bases and round shafts. Initials I.T. carved in relief on left hand capital and date '17' '02' carved in relief on 2 faces of right hand capital. The porch has slate sides panels, a moulded granite cornice and a slate roof with gable end. Flanked by two early C19 24-pane sashes, both with granite hood moulds. First floor with three C19 4 over 8-pane sashes, all with granite hood moulds. C19 outshut attached on left hand end with a row of circa C19 pigs-houses of stone rubble with rag slate roofs.
