Description
Trelaske Mill House is a millhouse dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of stone rubble with granite quoins and features a slate roof with gable ends and brick shafts at the end stacks. The building has a double depth plan, with a central entrance that leads directly into a hall kitchen, which is heated by an end stack and includes a cloam oven. To the right is a smaller parlour, also heated by an end stack, while narrow unheated service rooms are located at the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical two-window front. It has a 20th-century part-glazed porch and a heavy late 18th-century door. On either side of the door are late 18th-century two-light casements, each with dressed stone arches above the openings. The first floor features two similar casements, all of which retain their original crown glass. Attached to the right is a small outbuilding that contains a two-light window, likely of Medieval origin, made from a single piece of Polyphant stone.
Inside, the millhouse is complete and unaltered, showcasing dressed stone voussoirs in the fireplace arch of the hall kitchen, which includes the cloam oven. The parlour has a 20th-century fireplace.
