Description
Tregillys Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates back to the 17th century and was remodeled and extended in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed from slate rubble, with the west gable end partially slate hung, and features a dry slate roof with gabled ends. The building has gable end and axial stone stacks, with the axial stack to the right of center rendered and having a weathered cap. The farmhouse has a four-room and central cross-passage plan, with the lower end located to the right (east) and is two storeys high.
The south front is asymmetrical with five windows, featuring a gabled projection at the center and a set-back section on the left. The windows are a mix of 20th-century casements with one, two, and three lights, most of which have glazing bars. There are boarded and glazed doors at either end of the front and in the central projection, along with a slate sundial in the central gable.
Inside, the center right room has a large fireplace with monolithic granite jambs and a stop-chamfered timber lintel. The room to the left of center has a fireplace with a replaced lintel, while the left-hand room has a blocked fireplace. The lower right-hand room was not inspected. The kitchen in the rear wing features a 19th-century segmented arch fireplace. The staircase at the back of the passage has a closed string, large turned balusters, square newels with moulded bun-shaped ball finials, and a heavy moulded handrail. The first floor and roof space were not inspected.
