Description
Blable Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from around the mid 18th century, possibly with earlier origins, and was extended in the mid 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features slate roofs with gable ends and a cross wing with hipped ends. The building has a projecting stone rubble end stack with a brick shaft on the left and brick side lateral stacks to the right.
The original plan of the farmhouse is uncertain. The earlier range on the left has a two-room plan heated by end stacks. In the mid 19th century, a taller cross wing was added to the right, which projects beyond the left-hand range and returns behind with a service range, creating an 'L' shaped plan. The later range contains a principal room at the front with a stair directly to the rear, while the earlier range was remodelled to provide two additional principal rooms.
The exterior of the farmhouse is two storeys high with a regular three-window front on the left and a taller mid 19th-century range on the right. The left side features a regular three-window front with a 20th-century door slightly to the right of centre, flanked by a six-pane sash to the left and a tall 12-pane sash to the right. On the first floor, there are three 20-pane sashes. On the right side, there are two tall 12-pane sashes on both the ground and first floors. The stair is lit by a window on the right-hand side. The interior has not been inspected.
