Description

Hillside Cottage is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble with a rag slate roof and end stacks with rendered brick shafts. The rear of the building is built into the side of a steep bank, featuring an unusual single-depth, two-room plan arranged over three storeys. Originally, the entrance was located to the right of the centre, but it has since been blocked.

The front facade has a regular three-bay arrangement with brick segmental arches over the openings. A circa-19th century gabled porch is positioned slightly to the right of centre; the original door opening has been blocked and replaced with a window. The ground floor contains a four-pane sash window to the left, a single-light casement, and a four-pane sash to the right. The first floor has two original twelve-pane sashes flanking a central four-pane sash. The second floor retains three original twelve-pane sashes. A new entrance has been created on the right-hand side of the property. The interior was not inspected.
