GV II

House. Circa 1830s; with C20 alterations. Painted local stone rubble with granite quoins, rendered at rear and at south west side. Gable-ended asbestos tile roof with exposed rafter-ends at eaves. Brick gable-end stacks. PLAN: Single-depth 3-bay house with central entrance. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, attic and basement. Symmetrical 3-bay north west front; windows with cambered brick arches with small keystones, first floor with 12-and 16-pane sashes, that on left replaced and with raised cill, ground floor later 4-pane sashes; central doorway with pilastered doorcase with entablature, panelled reveals, rectangular overlight with intersecting glazing bars and 6-panel door; small arched bridge over basement area from street to doorway; flush-panel door in basement area. C20 fenestration at rear, south east. Small attic windows at gable ends. INTERIOR not inspected, but said to have original chimneypieces, staircase and mahogany doors. A good example of a late Georgian house with group value and conspicuously situated in Fowey overlooking the harbour.
