Description
Holy Cross House is a house built around 1800, with some alterations and additions made in the late 20th century. It is constructed of finely jointed red brick and features a shallow-pitched slate roof with gable-end parapets and end stacks. The house has three storeys and displays a moulded eaves cornice at the front and a cogged eaves cornice at the rear.
The building has three bays, with windows that have gauged flat heads, moulded keyblocks, and stone sills. The ground and first floor windows are 16-pane sashes, while the second floor windows are 2-light casements. The central entrance is framed by a Georgian-style surround that includes a pediment, pilasters, and an entablature, along with panelled reveals and a 6-panelled door, where the upper two panels are glazed.
At the back of the house, there is a contemporary two-storey wing that runs parallel to the main range, featuring the current main entrance with a porch and doorcase in Georgian style. Holy Cross House is prominently located at the junction of five streets.
