Description

Walton House is a late 18th-century farmhouse, later converted into a house. It was altered and extended in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of brick on a sandstone base, with plain tiled roofs and gable-end parapets. The main part of the house has a moulded eaves cornice and is two storeys and an attic in height. It has three bays, with a further bay added to the right. The windows in the main three-bay section have rusticated lintels, prominent keyblocks, and stone sills. The outer bays have 16-pane sashes, while the central first-floor sash has 12 panes. The central entrance has an open pediment, an entablature, fluted pilasters, and a half-glazed door. A single-bay section adjoins to the right, featuring a 12-pane sash window on the first floor. An attic light is positioned in the right gable end. The interior contains a dog-leg staircase with a moulded, wreathed handrail in the central hall. 19th-century additions exist to the left end and rear, incorporating roof parapets.
