Description

This is a late Georgian house, dating to the 1830s, and altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of local stone rubble, with a slate roof featuring hipped and gabled ends. A rear lateral stack has a brick shaft. The house is three bays wide, with a central front entrance. It backs onto the road and is built over a cellar, with access from a lower level yard on the harbour side.

The east front, facing the harbour, is symmetrical and has two storeys and a cellar. It features 19-pane sashes from the 19th century, with a 12-pane sash on the first floor. All windows have cambered red brick arches and slate sills. The central doorway also has a similar arch and a 20th-century six-panel door. A narrow terrace runs in front of the house, with iron railings. The terrace is supported by stone rubble piers, with a central doorway that leads to the cellar. A rendered bay on the south side is believed to be a remodelling of a former outbuilding, with a lower roof level and a canted bay window. The rear, facing North Street, has small sashes under the eaves and an original 12-pane sash on the left.

The interior has been altered, but retains a panelled shutter to a first-floor rear window, and a two-panel door in the same room. It is a good example of a small late Georgian house with a three-bay front designed to face the harbour.
