Description

The building is a round structure located approximately 30 metres north of Penrose Farmhouse, last used as a hen house. It likely dates from the 17th century but was remodeled as a hen house in the 19th century. The walls are made of granite moorstone rubble, and it has a monopitched roof covered with corrugated iron. The building has a roughly round exterior, bordered by three hedges, while the interior features a rectangular cell with six nesting boxes built into the walls. It is a single-storey structure with only a doorway and a small window on the east side. On the south side, there is a 17th-century granite monolithic gate-pier that has four mortices for a former loose-barred gate. The interior is simply finished with rubble walls and includes the six nesting boxes located on the south and west walls.
