Description

The henhouse at West Woodlands on Glasgow Road is likely from the later 19th century. It is an unusual small square-plan lectern style henhouse located among the remnants of a small home farm steading, next to the site of the now-demolished Woodlands House. The structure is built from roughly squared and snecked rubble, featuring large squared quoins. It has a timber door with a low-level entry and a timber lintel on the south side, and there is evidence of ledges inside, which may have served as nesting boxes.
