Coach House, West Woodlands

The Coach House in West Woodlands is likely from the early 19th century. It is a tall, rectangular building with a four-bay design and features piend and jerkinhead roofs. This compact structure served as a coach house, stable, and hayloft, and includes a stone forestair and three segmental-headed cart arch openings, which still have detailed louvered timber stable doors. The building is part of a small home farm steading that has seen little alteration and is located next to the site of the now-demolished Woodlands House. The walls are made of rubble, roughly squared and coursed in places, with squared quoins and voussoirs, and some sections are stugged.

The entrance elevation faces west and features three linked arches at ground level, with a two-leaf timber door in the center arch and stable doors with louvered top panels in the flanking arches. There is a narrow lean-to bay on the outer right with a timber door beneath a steeply sloping roof, and two small louvered hayloft openings near the eaves. The north elevation has a forestair leading to the hayloft, which also has a timber door under the jerkinhead roof.

Inside, the coach house retains simple interior details, including timber partition walls, stone floors, and timber mangers.
