Description
The former coach house, now mainly used as stables, was likely built around 1781 and is contemporary with the main stable block located opposite. It features coursed and dressed stone on a plinth with flush quoins and a stone slate roof with coped verges. The building consists of a single main range with a rear lean-to, which is probably slightly later and has a slate roof with five stable bays.
The front of the coach house has six large chamfered basket arches with evenly spaced voussoirs. The central four arches likely contain their original shaped double timber doors, while the two end arches have recessed infilled stone with a plank door and an open five-light transom light. The end bays still function as stables, retaining their original cobbled floor and a wooden feeding rack at the rear. There is also a cambered head window with a similar loft door above each end. Along with the main stable block, this building is one of the only remaining formal structures from the original Estcourt House estate, which has since been demolished.
