Description
This small barn, likely built in the early 19th century, is located to the southwest of the main stable block at Estcourt Park. It is constructed from random coursed rubble stone and features large flush quoins and a hipped stone slate roof. The north side facing the courtyard has a large segmental-headed arch with wattle panel infill at the top and double timber doors below. There is a similar opening on the opposite side, both of which have small loft openings flanking them, along with an additional door on the right side of the south elevation. The ends of the barn also include loft openings. The structure consists of four main bays supported by a low collar beam truss, with an additional king post in the central truss. At the time of the survey in April 1986, the south side was very overgrown. While modest in size, this barn is an important part of the stable group at Estcourt Park, which includes the animal shelters opposite, the main stable block, and the former coach house to the east.
