Description

SENNEN SW 32 NE 4/323 Penrose Farm Cottage - GV II Pair of farm workers cottages. Circa mid C19. Granite ashlar front, otherwise granite rubble. Dry Delabole slate roof at the front (rear being reslated at the time of survey), with projecting eaves and verges. Large central axial brick stack and smaller gable end stacks all with stepped strings and caps and cogged cornices. Plan: Identical double-depth-plan pair of cottages each with probably a small parlour and a kitchen at the front, an entrance lobby or axial passage approached from doorway at either end, and a service room within a narrower and shallow rear outshut. Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 4 window south east front with no doorways. Circa late C19 or C20 12-pane horned sashes in original openings. Gable ends each have a doorway with old ledged doors and overlight. Interior not inspected.
