Description
The headstone of Thomas Rickard and the tombchest of Elizabeth Rickard are located 4.5 metres south of the west end of the nave of the Church of St Petroc. The headstone, dated 1724, commemorates Thomas Rickard, a yeoman from Trehane, and is made of slate with a rectangular shape featuring an incised panel and a nowy head, decorated with an angel's head. The tombchest, in memory of Elizabeth, the wife of Thomas Rickard, who died in 1746, is constructed from slatestone rubble and has a rectangular slate lid. It is inscribed in large lettering, both upper and lower case, with serifs.
