Description
This is a tombchest from 1747, located 5 meters north of the Church of St Ivo. It was erected by William Rattle of Cadson in memory of his wife, Katharine. The tombchest is made of ashlar slatestone and features a moulded slatestone lid. The rectangular slate lid has chamfered corners and is well engraved with a dedication around the edge. In the central panel, there is a verse flanked by the figures of a skeleton and an angel. This tombchest can be compared to another one erected by William Rattle for his son, Thomas, which is located 8 meters to the north of the church.
