7/164 Tombchest of Katharine Rattle 5m north of Church of St Ivo

Tombchest. 1747. Erected by William Rattle of Cadson in memory of his wife Katharine. Ashlar slatestone with moulded slatestone lid. Rectangular slate lid with chamfered corners. Well engraved with dedication around edge. Verse in central panel flanked by figure of skeleton and figure of angel. Compare with tombchest erected by William Rattle for his son Thomas. (q.v. tombchest of Thomas Rattle, 8 m to north of Church).
