Description

The Old Bakery is a house with an attached shop, now functioning solely as a house. It dates from the early to mid-19th century, with a later addition for the shop around the late 19th century, which has undergone further alterations. The building is constructed of painted stone rubble and features a hipped slate roof with ridge tiles and an axial stack with a brick shaft.

The layout consists of a two-room plan with a central entrance. The room on the left was likely originally heated by a stack at the left end, while the room on the right was heated from a stack that has since been moved to an axial position. The late 19th-century addition on the right end was designed as a one-room plan for a shop that served as a bakery.

The exterior is two storeys high with an asymmetrical two-window front. On the ground floor, there is an off-centre plank door with an overlight. To the left, there is a 19th-century 16-pane sash window with a segmental brick arch, and to the right, a similar 12-pane sash window along with a lower cellar light, also featuring a segmental brick arch. The first floor has two similar 12-pane sash windows. The shop section to the right is two storeys tall and includes a 19th-century 4-pane sash window on the ground floor. The shop front features a 12-pane window with pilasters and a cornice, and the first floor has a 19th-century 12-pane sash window with a segmental brick arch. At the rear, there is a small single-storey lean-to that serves as a porch for a 20th-century half-glazed door. The rear of the main house extends beyond the shop addition and includes a 10-pane stair light.

The interior is not accessible for inspection.
