Description
The property is a house and shop, dating from the early to mid-19th century, with alterations made in the later 19th century and the 20th century. It is built of painted slatestone rubble and has a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. The chimney stacks are rendered. The original layout comprised a double-depth plan, with principal rooms to the front right and left, each heated by a gable-end stack. A central entrance leads into the building. Shallow service rooms are located to the rear. Around the mid to late 19th century, the front left room was converted into a shop, but it has since been returned to residential use.
The building is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front. The first floor has sash windows with 12 panes, set in exposed boxes. On the ground floor, a central 6-panelled door features panelled jambs and pilasters, a plain fascia and a continuous cornice extending over the shop window to the left. The shop window is a shallow canted bay with a large 8-pane light at the front, flanked by narrow sidelights. To the right of the entrance is a 19th-century 16-pane sash window with a cambered head. The right side of the building contains a 20th-century 9-pane light at both ground and first floor levels. The rear of the building has a 20th-century window and a verandah. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
