Description

Lavender Cottage and Withiel Post Office are a pair of attached houses dating from the mid to late 18th century, with some later alterations and additions. They are constructed of granite rubble and feature a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends, along with gable end stacks and an axial stack with brick shafts.

Lavender Cottage, located on the left, has a two-room plan, with each room heated by a gable end stack; the stack on the right is positioned axially. It has a symmetrical two-storey front with two windows, all of which are 20th-century 12-pane lights, and features segmental arches at the ground floor. The central entrance is a 20th-century plank door. To the left, there is a single-storey rendered lean-to, likely originally a kitchen or scullery, which has a 20th-century window at the front and a large stack on the left side.

Withiel Post Office, situated on the right, has a two-storey, asymmetrical front with two windows. All windows are 19th-century four-pane sashes, and the ground floor window on the right has a cambered brick arch. The entrance is a 20th-century half-glazed door, with a small single light window to the left. There is also a 19th-century single-storey addition on the right side, which includes a 20th-century window at the front. The interior has not been inspected.
