Description
The gateway with gate at the south entrance to Withiel House dates from around 1815. It is constructed from granite ashlar and features a cast iron gate. The gateway is flanked by walls that are approximately 1.5 meters high, also made of ashlar, with coping stones that have a roll-moulding. The terminal piers are rectangular in shape and have similar coping stones. The central wide cast iron gate has a cross design made of rails with lead rosettes at the intersections, and the top rail is raised in a curve over three ovals. The base rail includes railings topped with spear finials.
