Description

Lavender Cottage and Quincies are a pair of attached cottages, likely dating to the 16th or 17th century, with later alterations and additions. They are timber-framed and have been rendered with parget plaster. Lavender Cottage has a red plain tiled roof and is one storey high with attics, featuring a prominent gable dormer on its left side. Quincies, a two-storey crosswing added in the 18th or 19th century, has a grey slate roof. The cottages have red brick chimney stacks; one is to the right of Quincies’ gable, and two attached diagonal shafts are visible to the left of Lavender Cottage. Lavender Cottage has a 1:2 window range with vertically sliding sash windows on the left and 19th-century two-light casements with central transoms on the right. A vertically boarded door is set beneath a pediment on brackets. A separate door is located on the left return of Quincies.
