Description
This is a group of four headstones located 4 metres to the north of the west tower of the Church of St Paternus in North Petherwin. The headstones commemorate Richard Turner, who died in 1792; Abel Uglow, who died in 1786; Elizabeth, the widow of Abel Uglow, who died in 1800; and John, the son of John Crodacott, Yeoman, and Susanna, who both died in 1786. The headstones date from 1786, 1786, 1792, and 1800. They are made of slate and feature segmental arched heads with curved shoulders. The inscriptions are in upper and lower case lettering and are decorated with incised angel heads. The headstones have been re-erected.
