Description

Three headstones are located 5 metres east of the chancel of the Church of St Petroc in Trevalga. The headstones date from 1764, 1775, and 1807. The southern headstone commemorates William Blewett, who died in 1775, and his wife Jenefer, who died in 1789. This slate rectangular headstone features inscriptions in upper and lower case lettering with serifs, including the verse:

"Since God was pleased to call us hence
We'll fly to Him for our defence
We trust in Christ our Saviour sweet
With in his arms to rest and sleep."

To the north is the headstone for Ann, daughter of Edward and William Hocken, who died in 1807. This slate headstone has a nowy head and is also inscribed in upper and lower case lettering with serifs. The verse reads:

"Life is uncertain
Death is sure
Sin gives the wound
But Christ is the cure."

To the west, partly obscured by Ann Hocken's headstone, is the headstone for Ann Bersey, who died in 1764. This slate rectangular headstone is inscribed in upper and lower case lettering with serifs and includes the inscription:

"Farewell dear children in this world
Whilst a while remain
The Lord of Host by your Defence
Till we do meet again."
