Description

The Taylor Monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 5 metres south of the tower of the Church of St Sidwell and St Gulval. It dates from the 18th century and is constructed from squared slatestone rubble. The tomb has a plain rectangular shape with a flat top featuring a moulded edge. On top of the tomb is a slate inscription plate that has an incised border and well-crafted lettering, which includes verses starting with "Time like an ever rolling stream..." dedicated to John Taylor, who passed away in 1792, along with other family members.
