Description

The Church Room is a building from the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble that has been rendered and painted, topped with a rag slate roof featuring ridge tiles, including some handmade crested ridge tiles, and has gable ends. The building has a truncated rear lateral stack.

The Church Room has a single-room layout with an entrance at the front, which was originally heated by the rear lateral stack. It is a single-storey structure built on a rubble plinth, with a symmetrical front. The central recessed doorway features a 4-centred arch and a plank door with studs and fleur-de-lys strap hinges dating back to the 17th century. On either side of the doorway are 19th-century 3-light, 2-pane casement windows with wooden lintels. A Victorian letterbox is set into the wall on the left side, while the right end of the building is blind. The left end has a 19th-century 3-light mullion and transom window with 2-light casements and toplights. At the rear, there is a large central projection that is the remnant of the rear lateral stack.

Inside, the walls are plastered, and the roof is ceiled. The feet of the principal rafters of three trusses are visible at the tops of the walls. The rear fireplace has been blocked.
