Description
Cae-efa-lwyd-fawr is a 19th-century building constructed from roughly coursed rubblestone, featuring large quoins and slate lintels above the windows. It has a slate roof with integral end stacks, the left stack being more substantial and equipped with slate drips, along with coped verges. The building is two storeys high, with single-storey gabled ranges at the rear and to the right, creating a rough L-plan. The front has three windows, with the center window being blind, and all windows on both floors have glazing bar sashes, although they were sheeted over at the time of the survey. There is a central entrance that leads through a 20th-century lean-to porch. The rear and right ranges also feature integral end stacks.
Inside, the building has a simple layout with large open fireplaces that have timber lintels in the ground-floor rooms. The interior includes a plain early 19th-century dog-leg staircase with a ramped handrail, closed string, and stick balusters. The floors are made of slate, and there are plank doors. Additionally, there is a copper stack in the right range.
